Hello from me

I’m Laura. I love to write, sing and make stuff. I am a bit unhinged, but I reckon most interesting people are. I think there is a lot of pain in the world and this often gets in the way of us noticing the good. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I find trusting people and looking for the positives really hard. But I try to keep an open heart and an open mind.

A few years ago I had a breakthrough / breakdown, however you like to see it. I prefer the former. My diagnosis collection includes depression, complex PTSD, Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and anorexia. It depends which doctor you ask.

Frankly, I don’t believe in naming my illness, it doesn’t make any difference. It’s just where I’m at right now and I’m working through it.

Thanks for stopping by to read about my journey. If you like my blog, I’d love to hear from you. You can contact me at blackspotblog@gmail.com.

Please do not send me promotional or advertising requests. This blog is my personal space for connecting with like-minded people. This blog is about my truth, and to maintain this integrity I will not accept requests to place promoted material here.

Writing is cathartic so blogging is a wonderful outlet to express emotions. You’re brave to share also what happened to you, pat yourself on the back, so happy to connect to your blog. Deb

Hi there, I’m more than twice your age, but like you I’ve spent quite a bit of time working through some painful stuff. Back in the early 1990s I crashed and burned emotionally. However, I feel I managed to come out the other end of it.

If you can stand reading about other peoples struggles, and find it helpful to do so, then please feel free to take a look at my memoir.

Take care, be kind to yourself :0)

Hi Laura, wow some bleak stuff in there, and so beautifully expressed. I think that’s what a lot of us blog for, to be able to express our deepest thoughts, as eloquently as we can, and to connect with people. All of which you are doing. Stay with that, and us. All the best, Enda
