I’ve come across all kinds of wonderful people since I started blogging back in September. I really didn’t expect it. I thought nobody out there would actually want to read my ramblings – let alone come back for more.
So I was hugely flattered when my friend over at Rise of the Phoenix nominated me for the Liebster Award. I am so touched that so many people have read my posts, commented and emailed with encouragement and kindness.
As per Liebster rules, I’ll provide some answers to the given questions. And I will nominate a couple of my favourite bloggers to receive the award and to answer my questions if they fancy it.
Life isn’t easy, but it’s worth it
- What is the best thing about blogging for you?
- What inspired you to start writing?
- What’s your favourite album / single?
- If you could change places with someone for a day who would it be and why?
Here are the questions I’ve been given and my answers.
Why did you start your blog?
I started blogging after I was discharged from hospital. I missed the community there, the interactions with people who can understand at least a bit of what I’m going through. I’d be journalling a lot about therapy and I just thought one day I would start sharing some of that material.
What is your most prized possession and why?
I guess she isn’t a possession as such, but I love my dog more than everything else I own combined. She always makes me laugh, she gives me a reason to go outside on the worst days, her cuddles are just perfect when I can’t bear to be around people.
What is your favorite quote?
That’s easy, I adore this one by Edward Everett Hale. It reminds me that just because I’m only one person, it doesn’t mean I am powerless to make a difference – to something, in some small way.
“I am only one but still I am one. I cannot do everything but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.”
What is your favorite post you’ve written?
A difficult question to ask someone who is highly self-critical. I suppose I can say I am proud of some of my posts, in particular a few poems. I really like this poem I wrote a few months ago. I feel like it communicated a lot more that I could actually say at the time.
What is your favorite post written by someone else?
I don’t think it is possible to say, I read posts all the time that I find touching or that move me in some way. I am amazed by how courageous people are in opening their hearts through their blogs. In particular the two blogs I’ve nominated above do this. Those guys regularly write something that I can identify with, they bare their souls and that takes real guts.
Congratulations again, well deserved!
